Every Startup FP&A Tool Got Acquired. Here's the Timeline.

By Vishesh Khurana — Aug 8, 2026

In 2022 a seed-stage founder had five or six credible options for modelling runway. Today they have almost none — not because the products failed, but because every one of them was bought and moved upmarket.

The timeline

Pry was acquired by Brex for $90M in April 2022; pry.co deep links now 404 outright, while Pry's Academy guides still rank in search. Causal joined Lucanet in October 2024 and now redirects to an enterprise Extended Planning & Analysis page. Mosaic was acquired by HiBob for around $35M and is now a module inside an HR suite. BILL sunset Finmark on 1 April 2026, and bill.com has no Finmark destination page at all. And on 22 July 2026, Runway Financial lost the runway.com domain to Runway AI, the video-generation company, moving to cfo.ai.

The pattern

Read those five together and it is not consolidation, it is a migration upmarket. Runway's pricing page publishes no prices, no free tier and no self-serve signup, and its paid landing pages segment audiences as 50-500, 500-1,500 and 1,500+ employees. Jirav, the only tool still operating independently, sells to accounting firms and does not use the words runway or burn rate on its homepage.

Enterprise FP&A is a better business than seed FP&A. Every one of these companies followed the money. But the arithmetic leaves someone behind: the founder with three employees, nine months of cash and a board meeting in a fortnight.

What to do if your tool disappeared

Export your historical actuals while you still can — revenue, COGS, opex, payroll and cash balance are the only things genuinely expensive to reconstruct. Do not rebuild the model you had; rebuilding forces you to decide what you actually look at. Separate what you measured from what you assumed. And insist on a range rather than a date: runway is a distribution, and a tool that cannot give you a tenth and ninetieth percentile is offering false precision.

Where FounderConsole fits

FounderConsole was built for the segment this timeline emptied out. Upload a CSV of monthly financials and get a runway distribution with P10, P50 and P90 bands rather than a single date, model scenarios directly, and see metrics marked as estimates or N/A where the data cannot honestly support them. The free runway calculator and the free default-alive check need no signup and no demo call.

If Finmark is specifically the tool you lost, we wrote a separate guide to where your runway model goes next.
